OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY:

A TEKFAB Mechanical Design Engineer works with a team of dedicated mechanical and controls engineers and machine builders to create sophisticated, turnkey custom automated manufacturing systems from concept through installation that meet or exceed our customer’s expectations for functionality and value.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  1. Be responsible for the mechanical design and performance of custom automated high-tech metal forming and handling equipment
  2. Take projects from the analysis of a client’s needs through specification, concepts, design, prototyping, system fabrication, testing and installation
  3. Work with systems that use such technology as machine vision, PC/PLC controls, integrated motion control, pick & place, and custom GUI/HMI
  4. Utilize both design skills and project management skills
  5. Be responsible for supporting innovative designs that meet and exceed the client’s needs
  6. Coordinate and monitor all the aspects in the design process such as layouts and assemblies
  7. Develop and monitor assigned project budgets and schedules
  8. Interface with the customers during all phases of the project
  9. Directly be involved in new business development proposals and estimating
  10. Perform other duties as assigned

REQUIRED SKILLS AND TRAITS:

  1. BSME or MSME
  2. Experience with sophisticated electromechanical machines
  3. Ability to visualize innovative solutions to challenging mechanical problems
  4. Solid modeling CAD expertise
  5. Familiarity with motion control systems, PLC based machine control systems
  6. Experience with pneumatic and hydraulic systems
  7. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  8. Wiliness to learn and grow as a TEKFAB engineer
  9. Strong attention to detail

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Extensive walking outside to different Company buildings
  2. Prolonged periods of sitting at computer
  3. Twisting, turning, reaching, and bending
  4. Must be able walk up and down stairs multiple times a day
  5. Must be able to lift up to 35# occasionally

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  1. Work generally performed in an office environment
  2. At times working with automated and semi-automated industrial machines
  3. At times may be required use power equipment
  4. Extended hours may be required, including some weekends
